First Christian Church of Sierra Vista

Church Membership Policy Statement

Purpose:
At First Christian Church, we believe that membership in the local church is both a spiritual commitment and a relational covenant. It reflects a believer’s desire to grow in Christ, serve His body, and participate in the mission of God through this congregation.

✝️ Biblical Foundation

We affirm that all who have placed their trust in Jesus Christ and have responded in obedience—through repentance, confession, and baptism—are added by the Lord to His universal church (Acts 2:38–47). Local church membership is a visible expression of this spiritual reality, enabling believers to live out their faith in community, under spiritual care, and in mutual accountability (Romans 12:4–5; Hebrews 10:24–25).

Membership Commitments

Those who choose to place membership at First Christian Church commit to:

Faithful participation in weekly worship, Bible study, and fellowship opportunities.

Spiritual growth through personal devotion, discipleship, and engagement with the Word.

Service and stewardship by using their gifts to build up the body and contributing financially to the church’s mission.

Unity and love by promoting peace, resolving conflict biblically, and honoring the diversity of backgrounds and perspectives within the church.

Submission to leadership by respecting the spiritual guidance of elders and ministry staff (Hebrews 13:17).

Open Fellowship

We are a church for everyone. We welcome all seekers, doubters, and believers who are on a journey toward Christ. Membership is not contingent on doctrinal uniformity but on a shared confession of Jesus as Lord and a commitment to walk in obedience. We do not divide over matters of opinion or interpretation but strive for unity in essentials, liberty in non-essentials, and love in all things.

📝 Process for Placing Membership

To place membership at FCC, individuals are invited to:

  1. Meet with a Minister or Elder to discuss their faith journey and understanding of the gospel and to ask any questions
  2. Put your faith in Jesus for your salvation, confess Jesus as Lord, repent of your sins, and be baptized into Christ, where your sins will be forgiven by God      and you will be a new creation in Christ! (Acts 2:38, 2 Corinthians 5:17)

  3. If you come to FCC as an immersed believer (baptized as a person old enough to know what you were doing), you do not need to be baptized again. We would simply take your confession of faith in Jesus.

  4. Complete a Connection Card to help us welcome and integrate them into the life of the church.

Ongoing Care

Members are encouraged to remain active in their spiritual walk and relational connections. The elders and ministry staff are committed to shepherding the flock with grace and truth, offering support, correction, and encouragement as needed.
